Summary The protein encoded by this gene is a type B histone acetyltransferase (HAT) that is involved in the rapid acetylation of newly synthesized cytoplasmic histones, which are in turn imported into the nucleus for de novo deposition onto nascent DNA chains. Histone acetylation, particularly of histone H4, plays an important role in replication-dependent chromatin assembly. Specifically, this HAT can acetylate soluble but not nucleosomal histone H4 at lysines 5 and 12, and to a lesser degree, histone H2A at lysine 5. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified for this gene. provided by RefSeq, Jun 2009
shRNA Design These shRNA constructs were designed against multiple splice variants at this gene locus. To be certain that your variant of interest is targeted, please contact techsupport@origene.com. If you need a special design or shRNA sequence, please utilize our custom shRNA service.

AI Summary: OriGene’s HAT1-targeting lentiviral shRNAs (OriGene #TL312517) were used to knock down HAT1 expression in A549 cells for tumor studies, enabling the assessment of HAT1's role in cancer cell growth and response to small-molecule inhibitors.
Snippet: For tumor studies, A549 cells were infected with three lentiviral shRNAs targeting the human HAT1 mRNA (Origene # TL312517). 6 to 8 week old NSG female mice (Jackson Labs #005557) were shaved, then 500,000
