Allergies, also known as allergic diseases, are a number of conditions caused by hypersensitivity of the immune system to something in the environment that usually causes little problem in most people.
Many cytokine/chemokine molecules are known to be involved in the allergy reactions. The type 2 immune response is the major protective mechanism against metazoan parasites and is simultaneously characteristic of allergy. In a recent research, the TAM family receptor tyrosine kinase TYRO3 was discovered to limit the magnitude of the immune response against allergens in the context of type 2 immunity.
