Summary The protein encoded by this gene is an enzyme in the catabolic pathway of tyrosine. The encoded protein catalyzes the conversion of 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate to homogentisate. Defects in this gene are a cause of tyrosinemia type 3 (TYRO3) and hawkinsinuria (HAWK). Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010
shRNA Design These shRNA constructs were designed against multiple splice variants at this gene locus. To be certain that your variant of interest is targeted, please contact techsupport@origene.com. If you need a special design or shRNA sequence, please utilize our custom shRNA service.

AI Summary: OriGene’s human shRNA plasmids (Cat# TL314498 for BCATc, TL312348 for HPD, TL304319 for HPDL, and TR30021 for control) were used to silence target genes in human CD4+ memory T cells, enabling the study of how BCAT1-mediated leucine metabolism regulates Th17 responses in this paper.
Snippet: To silence BCATc, HPD, and HPDL expression in human CD4+ memory T cells, we used BCATc, HPD, or HPDL human shRNA plasmids containing the GFP reporter gene (Origene, Rockville, MD;Cat# TL314498 for BCATc, TL312348 for HPD, TL304319 for HPDL, and TR30021 for control). Lentivirus was produced by transfection of the lentiviral vector, along with psPAX2
