Summary This gene is a member of the iron/manganese superoxide dismutase family. It encodes a mitochondrial protein that forms a homotetramer and binds one manganese ion per subunit. This protein binds to the superoxide byproducts of oxidative phosphorylation and converts them to hydrogen peroxide and diatomic oxygen. Mutations in this gene have been associated with idiopathic cardiomyopathy (IDC), premature aging, sporadic motor neuron disease, and cancer. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. A related pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 1. provided by RefSeq, Apr 2016
shRNA Design These shRNA constructs were designed against multiple splice variants at this gene locus. To be certain that your variant of interest is targeted, please contact techsupport@origene.com. If you need a special design or shRNA sequence, please utilize our custom shRNA service.

AI Summary: OriGene products, specifically the lentiviral CYBB shRNA (Cat#: TL313616V), SOD2 shRNA (Cat#: TL309190V), and nontarget Scr shRNA (Cat#: TR30021V), were used in this study to selectively suppress gene expression and investigate the roles of CYBB and SOD2 in chemotherapy and ferroptosis resistance in mesenchymal glioblastoma cells.
Snippet: as plotted to indicate the generation of TMZ resistance in U87MGR cells. 4.9. shRNA-Mediated Knockdown The lentiviral CYBB shRNA (Cat#: TL313616V) and SOD2 shRNA (Cat#: TL309190V) were obtained from Origene (Rockville, MD, USA) and used to suppress the expression of the corresponding genes in accordance with the manufacturer’s protocol. The nontarget sequence (Scr shRNA, Origene Cat#: TR30021V)
