Summary This gene encodes a member of the trypsin family of serine proteases. This protein is a secreted enzyme that is proposed to regulate the availability of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) by cleaving IGF-binding proteins. It has also been suggested to be a regulator of cell growth. Variations in the promoter region of this gene are the cause of susceptibility to age-related macular degeneration type 7. provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008
Protein Categories Enzyme: Peptidases, Growth Factors, Intracellular Proteins, Nervous system Diseases, Secreated Proteins

N-Terminomics identifies HtrA1 cleavage of thrombospondin-1 with generation of a proangiogenic fragment in the polarized retinal pigment epithelial cell model of age-related macular degeneration
Chen, Melo, Jakob et al
Matrix Biol. (2018)
AI Summary: OriGene products, specifically the recombinant proteins HtrA1S328A (TP700208) and HtrA1WT (TP322362), were used in this study to assess HtrA1's cleavage activity and specificity toward thrombospondin-1, contributing to the identification of a proangiogenic fragment relevant to age-related macular degeneration.
Snippet: ;Specificity profiling was performed as described elsewhere [59, 72]. In brief, proteomederived peptide libraries were generated using Hek293T cell lysate digested with either trypsin or GluC [72]. Recombinant proteins of HtrA1S328A and HtrA1WT were purchased from Origene (TP700208, TP322362)
HtrA1 Mediated Intracellular Effects on Tubulin Using a Polarized RPE Disease Model
Melo, Oertle, Trepp et al
EBioMedicine (2017)
AI Summary: OriGene’s HtrA1 recombinant protein (TP322362) and its S328A mutant (TP700208) were used to study the effects of HtrA1 on tubulin degradation and cell function in a polarized RPE disease model.
Snippet: HtrA1 recombinant proteins (Origene, TP322362) and S328A (Origene, TP700208) were added to a final concentration of 10 μg/mL
