Summary This gene encodes an integral outer mitochondrial membrane protein that blocks the apoptotic death of some cells such as lymphocytes. Constitutive expression of BCL2, such as in the case of translocation of BCL2 to Ig heavy chain locus, is thought to be the cause of follicular lymphoma. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. provided by RefSeq, Feb 2016
shRNA Design These shRNA constructs were designed against multiple splice variants at this gene locus. To be certain that your variant of interest is targeted, please contact techsupport@origene.com. If you need a special design or shRNA sequence, please utilize our custom shRNA service.

IL-13 in LPS-Induced Inflammation Causes Bcl-2 Expression to Sustain Hyperplastic Mucous cells
Chand, Harris, Tesfaigzi
Sci Rep (2018) 8 (1), 436 DOI: 10.1038/s41598-017-18884-9
AI Summary: OriGene’s Bcl-2 shRNA retroviral vectors and control vectors were used to transfect airway epithelial cells, enabling the study of Bcl-2’s role in mucous cell hyperplasia by specifically knocking down Bcl-2 expression.
Snippet: termining the fold change as described previously75. Blocking Bcl-2 with retroviral transfection and ABT-263 HAECs were transfected with Bcl-2 shRNA containing retroviral vectors or control vectors (Origene Technologies, Inc., Rockville, MD) as per manufacturer’s instructions. After infection with Bcl-2 or control shRNAs, cells were treated with 10 ng/ml human IL-13, and 48 h later cells were;HAE...

Parecoxib Protects Mouse Cortical Neurons Against OGD/R Induced Neurotoxicity by Up-Regulating Bcl-2
Wang, Ma, Jia et al
Neurochem. Res. (2015) 40 (6), 1294-302 DOI: 10.1007/s11064-015-1580-7

AI Summary: OriGene’s Bcl-2-shRNA and scrambled shRNA (control shRNA) in the pGFP-V-RS vector were used to knock down Bcl-2 expression in primary cortical neurons, enabling the authors to demonstrate that Bcl-2 is essential for parecoxib’s neuroprotective effects against OGD/R-induced neurotoxicity.
Snippet: Bcl-2 Knockdown Using Bcl-2-shRNA. Bcl-2-shRNA and scrambled shRNA (control shRNA) were inserted in pGFP-V-RS retroviral vector, respectively. The vectors were then transfected into primary cortical neurons according to the manufacturer's instruction (OriGene ... Cite SaveSaving
