Summary This gene encodes a glycosyltransferase that catalyzes the addition of a single N-acetylglucosamine in O-glycosidic linkage to serine or threonine residues. Since both phosphorylation and glycosylation compete for similar serine or threonine residues, the two processes may compete for sites, or they may alter the substrate specificity of nearby sites by steric or electrostatic effects. The protein contains multiple tetratricopeptide repeats that are required for optimal recognition of substrates. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009
shRNA Design These shRNA constructs were designed against multiple splice variants at this gene locus. To be certain that your variant of interest is targeted, please contact techsupport@origene.com. If you need a special design or shRNA sequence, please utilize our custom shRNA service.

The essential role of YAP O-GlcNAcylation in high-glucose-stimulated liver tumorigenesis
Zhang, Qiao, Wu et al
Nat Commun (2017) 8, 15280 DOI: 10.1038/ncomms15280
AI Summary: In this study, OriGene products, specifically the YAP (Cat# RC209307) and OGT (Cat# RC200446) expression plasmids, were used to investigate the role of YAP O-GlcNAcylation in liver cancer cell transformation and tumorigenesis under high-glucose conditions.

Epithelial mesenchymal transition induces aberrant glycosylation through hexosamine biosynthetic pathway activation
Lucena, Carvalho-Cruz, Donadio et al
J. Biol. Chem. (2016)
AI Summary: In this study, OriGene shRNA products targeting OGT and OGA were used to silence these genes, enabling the researchers to investigate the role of O-GlcNAcylation in glycosylation changes during epithelial mesenchymal transition.
Snippet: Cells were further analyzed by flow cytometry (BD FACScalibur I) and data analyzed using the Flow Jo (Tree Star, USA). OGT and OGA silencing Both OGT and OGA genes were silenced using short hairpin RNA (shRNA) (Origene Technology, USA). ... Cite SaveSaving
