Summary The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the STAT protein family. In response to cytokines and growth factors, STAT family members are phosphorylated by the receptor associated kinases, and then form homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the cell nucleus where they act as transcription activators. The protein encoded by this gene can be activated by various ligands including interferon-alpha, interferon-gamma, EGF, PDGF and IL6. This protein mediates the expression of a variety of genes, which is thought to be important for cell viability in response to different cell stimuli and pathogens. The protein plays an important role in immune responses to viral, fungal and mycobacterial pathogens. Mutations in this gene are associated with Immunodeficiency 31B, 31A, and 31C. provided by RefSeq, Jun 2020

STAT1‑HDAC4 signaling induces epithelial‑mesenchymal transition and sphere formation of cancer cells overexpressing the oncogene, CUG2
Kaowinn, Kaewpiboon, Koh et al
Oncol. Rep. (2018) 40 (5), 2619-2627 DOI: 10.3892/or.2018.6701
AI Summary: In this study, the STAT1-shRNA vector from OriGene was used to suppress STAT1 expression, enabling the authors to investigate the role of STAT1 in promoting epithelial-mesenchymal transition and sphere formation in cancer cells overexpressing CUG2.
Snippet: LY2109761 and trichostatin A (TSA) were purchased from Cayman Chemical (Ann Arbor, MI, USA) and Sigma-Aldrich/Merck KGaA, respectively. The STAT1-shRNA vector was acquired from Origene (Rockville, MD, USA). Cellular fractionation

STAT1 drives tumor progression in serous papillary endometrial cancer
Kharma, Baba, Matsumura et al
Cancer Res. (2014)
AI Summary: In this study, OriGene's STAT1 shRNA and scrambled shRNA control were used to manipulate STAT1 expression in cell lines, enabling the authors to investigate STAT1's role in tumor progression in serous papillary endometrial cancer.
Snippet: Origene, Rockville, MD, USA) and negative control shRNA (scrambled shRNA cassette, 118 Origene) were transfected using Turbofectin 8.0 Transfection Reagent, and stably transfected 119 cells were selected with puromycin treatment (0.5-1.0 µg/ml, Nacalai Tesque ... Cite SaveSaving
