Summary This intronless gene encodes a member of the SRY-related HMG-box (SOX) family of transcription factors involved in the regulation of embryonic development and in the determination of cell fate. The product of this gene is required for stem-cell maintenance in the central nervous system, and also regulates gene expression in the stomach. Mutations in this gene have been associated with optic nerve hypoplasia and with syndromic microphthalmia, a severe form of structural eye malformation. This gene lies within an intron of another gene called SOX2 overlapping transcript (SOX2OT). provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008

Structural Constraints of Nucleosomes on Transcription-Factor Binding
Wilson
Thesis (2026)
AI Summary: OriGene products contributed full-length human transcription factors KLF4 (TP306691), OCT4 (TP311998), SOX2 (TP300757), and MYC (TP301611) for protein-nucleosome binding assays in the study.
Snippet: The protein-nucleosome binding assays were carried out by incubating the purified nucleosome libraries described above and human full-length KLF4 (Origene TP306691), OCT4 (Origene TP311998), SOX2 (Origene TP300757), and MYC (Origene TP301611) with MAX

AI Summary: OriGene contributed mammalian-expressed recombinant human Oct4 (TP311998), Sox2 (TP300757), Klf4 (TP306691), and c-Myc (TP301611) proteins that were used to study how pioneer transcription factors target nucleosomal DNA motifs during cellular reprogramming.
Snippet: Protein Expression and Purification We made the bacterial expression plasmids pET-28B-huOct4, pET-28B-huSox2, pET-28B-huKlf4, and pET-28B-huMyc encoding the full-length human O, S, K, M, respectively, fused to an N-terminal 6× histidine tag. The recombinant proteins were expressed in E. coli Rosetta (DE3) pLysS (Novagen #70956-3) and purified using a nickel charged column under denaturing conditions The mammalian expressed human OSKM recombinant proteins were obtained from OriGene (Oct4 #TP311998, Sox2 #TP300757, Klf4 #TP306691, c-Myc #TP301611). …
