| Background | PrePro-IAPP is an 89-amino acid coding sequence that generates Pro-IAPP, consisting of 67 amino acids, produced in pancreatic beta cells (β-cells) as a pro-peptide. After posttranslational modifications, including protease cleavage, Pro-IAPP produces Amylin, which is co-secreted with insulin by pancreatic β-cells and plays a role in glycemic regulation by slowing gastric emptying and promoting satiety, thus preventing postprandial spikes in blood glucose levels. Pro-IAPP has been linked to type 2 diabetes and islet β-cell loss. Range: 0-100 ng/ml Average IC50: 1.1 ng/ml |
