Summary This gene encodes a member of the sirtuin family of proteins, characterized by their deacetylase activity and proposed role in longevity. The encoded protein regulates gene expression in a wide range of cell and tissue types through its NAD+-dependent deacetylation of histones, transcription factors and transcriptional coactivators. Brain-specific overexpression of this gene has been shown to result in increased median lifespan. Viability of homozygous knockout mice for this gene varies with strain background. Homozygous knockout mice of strains that do not exhibit embryonic lethality are sterile and have a reduced lifespan. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015
shRNA Design These shRNA constructs were designed against multiple splice variants at this gene locus. To be certain that your variant of interest is targeted, please contact techsupport@origene.com. If you need a special design or shRNA sequence, please utilize our custom shRNA service.

Cathepsin cleavage of sirtuin 1 in endothelial progenitor cells mediates stress-induced premature senescence
Chen, Xavier, Moskowitz-Kassai et al

AI Summary: OriGene products, specifically the four shRNA constructs against Mus musculus SIRT1 (#TR505485) and the 29-mer scrambled shRNA cassette in pRS Vector, were used to selectively knock down SIRT1 expression, enabling the study of its role in stress-induced premature senescence of endothelial progenitor cells.
Snippet: Four short hairpin RNA (shRNA) constructs against Mus musculus SIRT1 (#TR505485), and the 29-mer scrambled shRNA cassette in pRS Vector were purchased from Origene Technologies (Rockville, MD) and used according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
Dual regulation of TERT activity through transcription and splicing by DeltaNP63alpha
Vorovich, Ratovitski
Aging (Albany NY) (2008) 1 (1), 58-67 DOI: 10.18632/aging.100003

AI Summary: OriGene products, specifically the p63 (NM_003722) cDNA clone and SIRT1 (NM_012238) cDNA clone, were used for overexpression studies to investigate how DeltaNp63alpha regulates TERT activity through both transcriptional and splicing mechanisms in mouse and human keratinocytes.
