Summary This gene encodes a member of the protein-tyrosine phosphatase family. Protein tyrosine phosphatases are cell signaling molecules that play regulatory roles in a variety of cellular processes. Studies of this class of protein tyrosine phosphatase in mice demonstrates that they are prenylated in vivo, suggesting their association with cell plasma membrane. The encoded protein may enhance cell proliferation, and overexpression of this gene has been implicated in tumor metastasis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013
shRNA Design These shRNA constructs were designed against multiple splice variants at this gene locus. To be certain that your variant of interest is targeted, please contact techsupport@origene.com. If you need a special design or shRNA sequence, please utilize our custom shRNA service.

PRL-3 suppresses c-Fos and integrin α2 expression in ovarian cancer cells
Liu, Al-aidaroos, Wang et al
BMC Cancer (2013) 13, 80 DOI: 10.1186/1471-2407-13-80

AI Summary: OriGene’s PRL-3 shRNA constructs (catalogue #TR320652) were used to stably knock down PRL-3 expression in A2780 ovarian cancer cells, enabling the study of PRL-3’s role in cancer cell migration, invasion, and tumorigenicity.
Snippet: Generation of stable cell lines. For PRL-3 knockdown, 8 shRNA constructs against human PRL-3 purchased from OriGene (catalogue #TR320652) and SABiosciences (catalogue #KH09221) were used to knock down PRL-3 in A2780 cells.
