Summary The WNT gene family consists of structurally related genes which encode secreted signaling proteins. These proteins have been implicated in oncogenesis and in several developmental processes, including regulation of cell fate and patterning during embryogenesis. This gene is a member of the WNT gene family. It is overexpressed in cervical cancer cell line and strongly coexpressed with another family member, WNT10A, in colorectal cancer cell line. The gene overexpression may play key roles in carcinogenesis. This gene and the WNT10A gene are clustered in the chromosome 2q35 region. The protein encoded by this gene is 97% identical to the mouse Wnt6 protein at the amino acid level. provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008
shRNA Design These shRNA constructs were designed against multiple splice variants at this gene locus. To be certain that your variant of interest is targeted, please contact techsupport@origene.com. If you need a special design or shRNA sequence, please utilize our custom shRNA service.

WNT6 is a novel oncogenic prognostic biomarker in human glioblastoma
Gonçalves, de Castro, Pojo et al
Theranostics (2018) 8 (17), 4805-4823 DOI: 10.7150/thno.25025
AI Summary: OriGene’s WNT6 gene-specific shRNA expression vectors (pRS plasmid TR308360, clones TI333434 and TI333435) and scrambled control shRNA (pRS plasmid TR30012) were used to silence WNT6 in glioblastoma cell lines, enabling the authors to investigate WNT6’s oncogenic role and its impact on cancer-related signaling pathways.
Snippet: … Due to its critical functions during embryogenesis 37-42, deregulated expression of WNT6 in adults may favor tumorigenesis 13-16. Our data show that the expression of WNT6 in gliomas is grade-dependent, at the gene and protein levels (Figure 1), similarly to what was previously described for other WNT ligands 5;Cells were transfected with WNT6 gene-specific shRNA expression vector inserted in a pRS plasmid (TR308360, clones TI333434 and TI333435 from Origene;named U373-shWNT6 or SNB19-shWNT6, respectively) or with a scrambled negative control non-effective shRNA in a pRS plasmid (TR30012, Origene;named U373-shCtrl or SNB19-shCtrl)

AI Summary: In this study, OriGene products—including WNT6 cDNA (RC210598) for overexpression and WNT6 shRNA (TL313486) for gene silencing—were used to manipulate WNT6 levels in glioblastoma cells, enabling the authors to demonstrate WNT6’s oncogenic role and its potential as a prognostic biomarker in glioblastoma.
