Background This gene encodes the human homolog of the proto-oncogene c-kit. C-kit was first identified as the cellular homolog of the feline sarcoma viral oncogene v-kit. This protein is a type 3 transmembrane receptor for MGF (mast cell growth factor, also known as stem cell factor). Mutations in this gene are associated with gastrointestinal stromal tumors, mast cell disease, acute myelogenous lukemia, and piebaldism. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008
Synonyms C-Kit; CD117; PBT; SCFR

Smoking enhanced the expression of c-kit in chromophobe renal cell carcinoma
Jiang, Yang, Chen et al
Tob Induc Dis (2023) 21, 126 DOI: 10.18332/tid/170432
AI Summary: In this study, the OriGene c-kit mouse monoclonal antibody (#TA801036) was used to detect and compare c-kit protein expression in chromophobe renal cell carcinoma tissue samples from smokers and non-smokers, helping to demonstrate that smoking enhances c-kit expression in these tumors.
Snippet: Briefly, the patients' sections were incubated with c-kit mouse monoclonal antibody (1:150, Origene Technologies, #TA801036) overnight at 4 o C. Then, tissue sections Save;Smoking is an important risk factor for inducing renal cell carcinoma (RCC), but its specific mechanism affecting the development of RCC remains to be elucidated. …

Potent anti-tumor efficacy of palbociclib in treatment-naïve H3.3K27M-mutant diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma
Sun, Sun, Yan et al
EBioMedicine (2019) 43, 171-179 DOI: 10.1016/j.ebiom.2019.04.043
AI Summary: OriGene's Antigen Retrieval Solution was used for preparing tissue slides in immunohistochemistry experiments, facilitating the detection of protein markers in the study of palbociclib's anti-tumor effects in H3.3K27M-mutant diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma.
Snippet: therapeutic strategies is still a major challenge in DIPG research. One of the molecular signatures of DIPG is recurrent histone mutation H3K27M, which is believed to be one of the drivers of the tumorigenesis [12]. DIPG with the H3.3K27 M mutation are associated with the poorest outcome [13]. The integrated analysis of over 1000 cases of pediatric high-grade glioma and DIPG has shown that dysr;....
