Database Link
Background Periostin is a disulfide linked 90 kDa, 811 amino acid protein originally isolated as a osteoblast-specific factor that functions as a cell adhesion molecule for preosteoblasts and is thought to be involved in osteoblast recruitment, attachment and spreading. Additionally, periostin expression has previously been shown to be significantly increased by both transforming growth factor beta 1(TGF beta 1) and bone morphogenetic protein (BMP2). Periostin mRNA is expressed in the developing mouse embryonic and fetal heart, and that it is localized to the endocardial cushions that ultimately divide the primitive heart tube into a four-chambered heart. Abnormal expression of periostin is also linked to angiogenesis and metastatsis in epithelial tumors.

Zeng, Liu, Sun et al
Oncol Lett (2018) 15 (6), 8681-8686 DOI: 10.3892/ol.2018.8372
AI Summary: OriGene products, specifically the POSTN primary antibody (TA804575) and the secondary biotinylated mouse antibody (TA130008), were used in immunohistochemical analyses to detect periostin expression in tissue sections, contributing to the study's investigation of periostin's role in recruiting tumor-associated macrophages in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.
Snippet: Immunohistochemical examination For immunohistochemical analysis of POSTN (TA804575;1:100;OriGene Technologies, Inc., Beijing, China) and CD206 (SC-376232;Santa Cruz Biotechnology, Inc., Dallas, TX, USA), tissue sections (thickness=4 mm) were deparaffinized in 100% xylene and rehydrated in graded concentrations (100, 95, 70 and 50%) of ethanol. Following incubation with 1% bovine serum albumin (BSA;Beijing Dingguo Changsheng Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Beijing, China) in PBS (pH 7.4) at 37°C for 30 min, the tissue sections were then incubated with primary antibody for 1 h at room temperature, followed by incubation with the secondary biotinylated mouse antibody (TA130008;OriGene Technologies, Inc., Beijing, China) at 37°C for 30 min. …
