Background The protein encoded by this gene is an intermediate filament-associated protein that aggregates keratin intermediate filaments in mammalian epidermis. It is initially synthesized as a polyprotein precursor, profilaggrin (consisting of multiple filaggrin units of 324 aa each), which is localized in keratohyalin granules, and is subsequently proteolytically processed into individual functional filaggrin molecules. Mutations in this gene are associated with ichthyosis vulgaris.
Synonyms ATOD2; filaggrin

AI Summary: OriGene products contributed to this study by providing the anti-IDO1 (TA377327) and anti-FLG (TA376272) antibodies, which were used in Western blot experiments to validate the involvement of IDO1 and FLG proteins in the therapeutic effects of Ainsliaea fragrans Champ. against cervicitis.
Snippet: PVDF membranes were blocked with 5 % skimmed milk and incubated overnight with the following rabbit antibodies: anti-COX-2 (Cell Signaling, #12282, 1:1000), anti-IDO1 (Origene, TA377327, 1:500), anti-FLG (Origene, TA376272, 1:1000), anti-TLR4
