Background Human herpervirus-8 (HHV-8) cyclin is a component of the HHV-8 virus particle. HHV8 has been found to be associated with three different diseases observed in AIDS patients; kaposi's sarcoma, primary effusion lymphoma (which is a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma affecting the body cavities) and multicentric Castleman's disease. To date there is much evidence to support a direct role for HHV8 in kaposi's sarcoma.
Synonyms HHV-8, KHSV

Lymphatic dysfunction in transgenic mice expressing KSHV k-cyclin under the control of the VEGFR-3 promoter
Sugaya, Watanabe, Yang et al
Blood (2005) 105 (6), 2356-63 DOI: 10.1182/blood-2004-08-3364
Cited by 39
AI Summary: OriGene products, specifically the mouse k-cyclin (KSHV) cDNA clone (Cat# MR207297), were used in this study to generate transgenic mice expressing k-cyclin under the VEGFR-3 promoter, enabling the investigation of k-cyclin’s effects on lymphatic function and pathogenesis.
Inhibiting primary effusion lymphoma by lentiviral vectors encoding short hairpin RNA
Godfrey, Anderson, Papanastasiou et al
Blood (2005) 105 (6), 2510-8 DOI: 10.1182/blood-2004-08-3052
Cited by 185
AI Summary: In this study, OriGene’s pRS-shRNA plasmids were used to generate short hairpin RNAs targeting key viral genes, enabling the researchers to silence these genes via lentiviral-mediated RNA interference and thereby inhibit the growth of primary effusion lymphoma in vitro and in vivo.
KSHV viral cyclin binds to p27KIP1 in primary effusion lymphomas
Järviluoma, Koopal, Räsänen et al
Blood (2004) 104 (10), 3349-54 DOI: 10.1182/blood-2004-05-1798
Cited by 46
AI Summary: In this study, OriGene’s anti-p27KIP1 antibody (Cat# TA500122) was used to detect and analyze p27KIP1 protein interactions, helping to demonstrate that KSHV viral cyclin binds to and inactivates p27KIP1 in primary effusion lymphoma cells.
