Background | TRPV1 (transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 1, capsaicin receptor, vanilloid receptor, Vr1) is a polymodal nociceptor activated by heat, vanilloids (capsaicin), and protons. It is primarily expressed in the dorsal root ganglia and peripheral nerve endings. TRPV1 antagonists are a potential therapeutic target for many suffering chronic physical and neuropathic pain. However, due to its other role in the regulation of body temperature, these therapies are currently experiencing a barrier. On the other hand, TRPV1 agonists can be used to desensitize nerves after activation, thereby reducing pain. The research around TRPV1 is broad, where it is studied in fields such as anxiety, pain, oxidative stress, taste, inflammation, depression, respiratory disease, and various psychiatric disorders. |

Note | This TRPV1 antibody is useful for Western Blot and Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence. In Western Blot, a band is seen ~100 kDa representing TRPV1. In ICC/IF, plasma membrane staining is observed in Ntera-2 cells. This antibody is not recommended for IHC-paraffin embedded sections. |
