• Background: Glucagon is a peptide hormone secreted from the pancreatic Islet of Langerhans alpha-cells. It works to raise the concentration of glucose and fatty acids in the bloodstream, and is considered to be the main catabolic hormone of the body. Glucagon (1-29) acts on hepatic enzymes that regulate glucose production and glycogen synthesis. Excessive amounts of circulating glucagon are implicated in the metabolic dysregulation of type 2 diabetes, since such conditions result in hyperglycemia. This antibody was generated by immunization of rabbits with Glucagon (1-29) coupled to a carrier protein.
