Background The neutralizing monoclonal antibody to monkey IFN-? (clone MD-1) was first described in 1985. The MD-1 antibody can be used in a sandwich ELISA and in ELISPOT assays (Aurisicchio L. et al. 2007, Koopman G. et al. 2008, Mäkitalo B. et al. 2002 and van der Meide P.H. et al. 1995). Further, the antibody has been descriped in immunohistochemical staining of frozen tissues of marmosets (Villoslada P. et al. 2000) and in intracellular flow cytometric analysis (Hamann D. et al. 1996). The MD-1 antibody has been reported to cross react with rhesus macaque, pig-tailed macaque, cynomogus monkey, baboon and African green monkey IFN-? and can be used in Luminex systems (Giavedoni L.D. 2005).
