• Specificity: Anti-Malate dehydrogenase antibody is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process which includes delipidation, salt fractionation and ion exchange chromatography followed by extensive dialysis against the buffer stated above. Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Biotin, anti-Sheep Serum as well as purified and partially purified Malate Dehydrogenase [Pig Heart]. Cross reactivity against Malate Dehydrogenase from other sources is unknown.

• Background: Anti-Malate dehydrogenase recognizes the protein malate dehydrogenase, an oxidoreductase that catalyzes the oxidation of malate to oxaloacetate with the concomitant reduction of NAD+ to NADH. This reaction occurs in various metabolic pathways, the most notable being the citric acid cycle and gluconeogenesis. Two isoforms of malate dehydrogenase exist in eukaryotes localized in either the cytoplasm or mitochondrial the matrix.
