Applications | ELISA, WB |
Recommended Dilution | Direct ELISA: To detect Human Galectin-1 by direct ELISA (using 100 µl/well antibody solution), this antibody can be used at a concentration of ~1.0 µg/ml. This Biotin conjugated antibody allows the detection of at least 0.2-0.4 ng/well of recombinant Human Galectin-1. Sandwich ELISA: To detect Human Galectin-1 by Sandwich ELISA (using 100 µl/well antibody solution), this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.25-1.0 µg/ml. This Biotin conjugated antibody, in conjunction with Purified anti-Human Galectin-1 antibody (PP1223P) as Capture antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2-0.4 ng/well of recombinant Human Galectin-1. Western blot: To detect Human Galectin-1 by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1-0.2 µg/ml. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant hGalectin-1 is 1.5-3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions. |

Background | The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. Galectin 1 may act as an autocrine negative growth factor that regulates cell proliferation. It also may regulate cell apoptosis and cell differentiation. It binds beta-galactoside, CD45, CD3 and CD4. Galectin 1 inhibits CD45 protein phosphatase activity and therefore the dephosphorylation of Lyn kinase. It is found in cardiac, smooth, and skeletal muscle, neurons, thymus, kidney, placenta and hematopoietic cells. |
Synonyms | LGALS1, Galectin1, Lectin galactoside-binding soluble 1, Beta-galactoside-binding lectin L-14-I, Lactose-binding lectin 1, S-Lac lectin 1, Galaptin, 14 kDa lectin, HPL, HBL, MAPK-activating protein PM12 |
