OTI Disclaimer: Our molecular clone sequence data has been matched to the reference identifier above as a point of reference. Note that the complete sequence of our molecular clones may differ from the sequence published for this corresponding reference, e.g., by representing an alternative RNA splicing form or single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP).
Product Components: The cDNA clone is shipped in a 2-D bar-coded Matrix tube as dried plasmid DNA. The package also includes 100 pmols of both the corresponding 5' and 3' vector primers in separate vials. Every lot of primer is tested to provide clean sequencing of OriGene TrueClones.

Gene Summary: This gene encodes a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family of proteins, which is part of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) superfamily. Members of the BMP family play an important role in bone and cartilage development. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate each subunit of the disulfide-linked homodimer. Mutations in this gene are associated with orofacial cleft and microphthalmia in human patients. The encoded protein may also be involved in the pathology of multiple cardiovascular diseases and human cancers. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2015].

Transcript Variant: This variant (3) differs in the 5' UTR, compared to variants 1 and 2. Variants 1, 2 and 3 encode the same protein.
