OriGene Data
Vector:pCMV6-XL5 Insert Size: Restriction Site:
Sequence Data: Fully Sequenced ORF          5' Read Nucleotide Sequence          3' Read Nucleotide Sequence
OTI Annotation: There is a 54bp insertion within the OriGene clone compared to the NCBI reference ORF. This results in the in-frame addition of 18 amino acids. The insertion is present due to the use of an alternative 5?-end splice site on exon 6. The use of this alternative splice site was also found in another reference, AK074992.
OTI Disclaimer: The sequence of an 'OriGene Unique Variant' differs significantly from the associated reference. It represents a novel splice variant from the same gene locus of the reference. Although such variants are true transcripts and present opportunity for discoveries, they are not yet curated by NCBI and should not be used if the exact reference accession sequence is required.
Product Components: The cDNA clone is shipped in a 2-D bar-coded Matrix tube as dried plasmid DNA. The package also includes 100 pmols of both the corresponding 5' and 3' vector primers in separate vials. Every lot of primer is tested to provide clean sequencing of OriGene TrueClones.

Summary: This gene encodes a member of the sirtuin family of proteins, homologs to the yeast Sir2 protein. Members of the sirtuin family are characterized by a sirtuin core domain and grouped into four classes. The functions of human sirtuins have not yet been determined; however, yeast sirtuin proteins are known to regulate epigenetic gene silencing and suppress recombination of rDNA. Studies suggest that the human sirtuins may function as intracellular regulatory proteins with mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activity. The protein encoded by this gene is included in class I of the sirtuin family. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants that encode different proteins have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].

Transcript Variant: This variant (2) uses an alternate splice site in the 5' end which causes the use of a downstream start codon, compared to variant 1. The resulting protein (isoform b) is shorter at the N-terminus compared to isoform a.
