FunctionThis gene encodes a member of the sirtuin family of proteins, homologs to the yeast Sir2 protein. Members of the sirtuin family are characterized by a sirtuin core domain and grouped into four classes. The functions of human sirtuins have not yet been determined; however, yeast sirtuin proteins are known to regulate epigenetic gene silencing and suppress recombination of rDNA. Studies suggest that the human sirtuins may function as intracellular regulatory proteins with mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activity. The protein encoded by this gene is included in class III of the sirtuin family. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq].

HEK293T cells were transfected with the pCMV6-ENTRY control (Left lane) or pCMV6-ENTRY SIRT5 (RC200189, Right lane) cDNA for 48 hrs and lysed. Equivalent amounts of cell lysates (5 ug per lane) were separated by SDS-PAGE and immunoblotted with anti-SIRT5.
Anti-SIRT5 mouse monoclonal antibody (TA503233) immunofluorescent staining of COS7 cells transiently transfected by pCMV6-ENTRY SIRT5(RC200189).
HEK293T cells transfected with either RC200189 overexpress plasmid(Red) or empty vector control plasmid(Blue) were immunostained by anti-SIRT5 antibody(TA503233), and then analyzed by flow cytometry.
