The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the conversion of 10-formyltetrahydrofolate, NADP, and water to tetrahydrofolate, NADPH, and carbon dioxide. The encoded protein belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenase family and is responsible for formate oxidation in vivo. Deficiencies in this gene can result in an accumulation of formate and subsequent methanol poisoning. [provided by RefSeq].

HEK293T cells were transfected with the pCMV6-ENTRY control (Left lane) or pCMV6-ENTRY ALDH1L1 (RC213720, Right lane) cDNA for 48 hrs and lysed. Equivalent amounts of cell lysates (5 ug per lane) were separated by SDS-PAGE and immunoblotted with anti-ALDH1L1.
HEK293T cells transfected with either RC213720 overexpress plasmid(Red) or empty vector control plasmid(Blue) were immunostained by anti-ALDH1L1 antibody(TA501851), and then analyzed by flow cytometry.
Flow cytometric Analysis of Hela cells, using anti-ALDH1L1 antibody(TA501851),(Red), compared to a nonspecific negative control antibody(TA50011),(Blue).
