OTI Disclaimer: The molecular sequence of this clone aligns with the gene accession number as a point of reference only. However, individual transcript sequences of the same gene can differ through naturally occurring variations (e.g. polymorphisms), each with its own valid existence. This clone is substantially in agreement with the reference, but a complete review of all prevailing variants is recommended prior to use. More info

Reference Data
RefSeq Explanation: NM_017436.4, NP_059132 RefSeq Size: 2106 RefSeq ORF: 1062
Synonyms : A14GALT; A4GALT1; Gb3S; P(k); P1; P1PK; PK
LocusID: 53947 Cytogenetic: 22q13.2
Gene Summary: The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the transfer of galactose to lactosylceramide to form globotriaosylceramide, which has been identified as the P(k) antigen of the P blood group system. This protein, a type II membrane protein found in the Golgi, is also required for the synthesis of the bacterial verotoxins receptor. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2015].
