Presentation Purified
Buffer Presentation State: Purified
State: Liquid purified protein
Buffer System: 20 mM Tris-HCl buffer (pH 7.5) containing 1 mM MgSO4, 10% Glycerol
Bioactivity Specific: > 20,000 pmol/min/µg, and was obtained by measuring the decrease of NAD in absorbance at 340nm resulting from NADH at pH 6.5 at 37°C.

Activity Assay
1. Prepare 180 µl assay buffer into a suitable container: The concentrations are 80 mM Triethanolamine (pH 6.5), 0.3 mM 2-phosphorglycerate, 0.2 mM beta-NADH, 25 mM magnesium sulfate, 100 mM potassium chloride, 1.2 mM ADP, 3.5 unit pyruvate kinase, 5 unit L-lactic dehydrogenas.
2. Equilibrate to 37°C and monitor at A340nm until the value is constant using a spectrophotometer.
3. Add 20 µl of recombinant a-enolase protein 10 µg/ml in assay buffer.
4. Record the decrease in A340nm for 5 minutes at 37°C
Endotoxin < 1.0 EU per 1 µg of protein (determined by LAL method)
Preparation Liquid purified protein
Protein Description Recombinant Human Alpha-enolase was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography.

Summary This gene encodes alpha-enolase, one of three enolase isoenzymes found in mammals. Each isoenzyme is a homodimer composed of 2 alpha, 2 gamma, or 2 beta subunits, and functions as a glycolytic enzyme. Alpha-enolase in addition, functions as a structural lens protein (tau-crystallin) in the monomeric form. Alternative splicing of this gene results in a shorter isoform that has been shown to bind to the c-myc promoter and function as a tumor suppressor. Several pseudogenes have been identified, including one on the long arm of chromosome 1. Alpha-enolase has also been identified as an autoantigen in Hashimoto encephalopathy.
