Applications ELISA, WB
Recommended Dilution Sandwich ELISA: To detect Human BD-3 by Sandwich ELISA (using 100 µl/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.5-2.0 µg/ml of this antibody is required. Antibody PP1229P, in conjunction with biotinylated anti-Human BD-3 (Cat.-No PP1229B), allows the detection of at least 0.2-0.4 ng/well of recombinant Human BD-3.
Western Blot: To detect Human BD-3 by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1-0.2 µg/ml. When used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant Human BD-3 is 1.5-3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Gene Name defensin beta 103A
Background Beta Defensin 3 exhibits antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria S.aureus and S.pyogenes, Gram-negative bacteria P.aeruginosa and E.coli and the yeast C.albicans. It kills multiresistant S.aureus and vancomycin-resistant E.faecium, but it appears to have no significant hemolytic activity. Beta Defensin 3 is highly expressed in skin and tonsils, and to a lesser extent in trachea, uterus, kidney, thymus, adenoid, pharynx and tongue. Low expression is observed in salivary gland, bone marrow, colon, stomach, polyp and larynx, with no expression in small intestine. Expression is induced by infection of bacteria and by interferon gamma.
Beta Defensin 3 belongs to the beta-defensin family.
