Isotype IgY
Clonality Polyclonal
Immunogen Purified Beta-Galactosidase (LacZ from E.coli) protein emulsified in Freund's adjuvants.
After multiple injections, eggs were collected from the hens, IgY fractions were prepared from the yolks, and then affinity-purified antibodies were prepared using Beta-Galactosidase conjugated to an Agarose matrix. The final product is a mixture of both affinity-purified antibodies (25 mg/ml) and purified IgY (10 mg/ml), and is filter-sterilized.
Specificity This antibody recognizes the LacZ gene product with high titre and high specificity. This anitbody can be used together with Rabbit and Mouse primaty antibodies for Double Immunostaining with no Secondary antibody cross reactivity. It even works well with fusion protein of LacZ!
Quality Control: This antibody preparation was analyzed by Immunohistochemistry (at a dilution of 1/5000) using tissues infected with a virus bearing the LacZ gene.
Fluorescein Conjugated Affinity-purified Goat anti-Chicken IgY antibody (Cat.-No AP31795FC-N, 1/2000 dilution) was used as a secondary antibody.
Formulation Sodium Phosphate-Buffered (10 mM) isotonic (0.9%, w/v) Saline (PBS, pH 7.2) (50% by volume) with 50% Glycerol as an anti-freezing agent

Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Stability Shelf life: one year from despatch.
Background Beta-galactosidase (beta-gal), an inducible enzyme that catalyses the hydrolysis of lactose and other beta-galactosides into monosaccharides, is a product of the LacZ operon, and is a homo-tetrameric protein consisting of four identical subunits of approximately 114kDa each. The enzyme is commonly used as a reporter gene in molecular biology to assess the efficiency of transfection.
Synonyms Beta-Gal tag, lacZ tag, b0344, JW0335, Beta-Gal Fusion Protein, Lactase
