Specificity This antibody specifically recognises an epitope within the fusion protein of parainfluenza virus 1 (HPIV-1), an enveloped single-stranded RNA virus of the Paramyxoviridae family.
This antibody can be used in IFA typing studies in conjunction with AM05653PU-N (clone 231/9F) and AM05654PU-N (clone 341/7H), for the detection of parainfluenza virus types 1, 2 and 3.

Background Parainfluenza viruses are genetically and antigenically divided into the four types HPIV1-4, with HPIV-1, -2 and -3 being major causative agents of lower respiratory infections in the young and immunologically vulnerable. The fusion protein of all HPIV, is a 60-66kDa surface glycoprotein, integral in the fusion of virus host-cell membranes, and the subsequent infection of a host cell by the viral nucleocapsid.
