ACTH (POMC) (1-24) Mouse Monoclonal Antibody [Clone ID: 57 (BGN/1388/66)]
ACTH (POMC) (1-24) mouse monoclonal antibody, clone 57 (BGN/1388/66), Aff - Purified
|Clone Name||57 (BGN/1388/66)|
Immunohistochemistry on Formalin Fixed Paraffin Embedded Sections: 1/100-1/200 (Requires protein digestion pre-treatment of paraffin sections e.g. trypsin or pronase).
|Immunogen||Synthetic peptide corresponding to the amino acids 1-24 of the Human ACTH conjugated to Keyhole Limpet Haemocyanin.|
|Specificity||This ACTH antibody (Clone 57, BGN/1388/66) recognises 1-24 ACTH (Synacthen) which, as a synthetic analogue of naturally-occurring Adrenocorticotropic Hormone, can be used to measure adrenal reserve and for the diagnosis of adrenal insufficiency by acute adrenocortical stimulation.
It does not recognise 17-39 ACTH (CLIP).

State: Aff - Purified
State: Liquid purified IgG fraction
Preservative: 0.09% Sodium Azide
|Purification||Affinity Chromatography on Protein A|
|Storage||Store undiluted at 2-8°C for one month or (in aliquots) at -20°C for longer.
Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
|Stability||Shelf life: one year from despatch.|
|Background||ACTH, released from the anterior pituitary gland in response to corticotropin-releasing hormone from the hypothalamus, acts on the adrenal cortex to stimulate the production of corticosteroids such as cortisol, involved in the response to stress. Studies have shown that the administration of 1-24 ACTH increases blood pressure, believed to be attributed to an increase in ACTH-stimulated cortisol secretion, in association with increased cardiac output.|
|Synonyms||Corticotropin, Adrenocorticotropic hormone, POMC|
