RNA is the starting material for many biomedical and genetic studies including RT-PCR gene expression assay, Northern blot analysis, 5’-RACE assay, RNA mapping, primer extension assay, and RNase protection assay. Because RNA profiles present a snapshot of the metabolic state of a cell, tissue or organ, RNA quality is of premium importance for research success. Even slight degradation of RNA could seriously compromise the results of downstream studies.
