OTI Disclaimer: Our molecular clone sequence data has been matched to the reference identifier above as a point of reference. Note that the complete sequence of our molecular clones may differ from the sequence published for this corresponding reference, e.g., by representing an alternative RNA splicing form or single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP).
Product Components: The cDNA clone is shipped in a 2-D bar-coded Matrix tube as dried plasmid DNA. The package also includes 100 pmols of both the corresponding 5' and 3' vector primers in separate vials. Every lot of primer is tested to provide clean sequencing of OriGene TrueClones.
Protein Families: Druggable Genome

Reference Data
RefSeq: NM_000367.2, NP_000358
RefSeq Size: 3258 RefSeq ORF: 738
Synonyms : OTTHUMP00000016076; S-adenosyl-L-methionine:thiopurine S-methyltransferase; thiopurine methyltransferase; thiopurine S-methyltransferase
LocusID: 7172 Cytogenetic: 6p22.3
Summary: This gene encodes the enzyme that metabolizes thiopurine drugs via S-adenosyl-L-methionine as the S-methyl donor and S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine as a byproduct. Thiopurine drugs such as 6-mercaptopurine are used as chemotherapeutic agents. Genetic polymorphisms that affect this enzymatic activity are correlated with variations in sensitivity and toxicity to such drugs within individuals. A pseudogene for this locus is located on chromosome 18q. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].
