Background
Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein which comprises about one-half of the blood serum protein.Albumin functions primarily as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormonesand plays a role in stabilizing extracellular fluid volume. Albumin is a globular unglycosylatedserum protein of molecular weight 65,000. Albumin is synthesized in the liver as preproalbuminwhich has an N-terminal peptide that is removed before the nascent protein is released from therough endoplasmic reticulum. The product, proalbumin, is in turn cleaved in the Golgi vesicles toproduce the secreted albumin
HEK293T cells were transfected with the pCMV6-ENTRY control (Left lane) or pCMV6-ENTRY ALB(RC205943) (Right lane) cDNA for 48 hrs and lysed. Equivalent amounts of cell lysates (5 ug per lane) were separated by SDS-PAGE and immunoblotted with anti-ALB.
