Homo sapiens unc-51-like kinase 1 (C. elegans) (ULK1)
Synonyms:
ATG1; ATG1A; hATG1; UNC51; Unc51.1
Immunogen
A phospho specific peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Serine 556 of human ULK1 was used as an immunogen. This antibody only detects ULK1 phosphorylated at Serine 556.
Buffer
Store at -20 °C. Buffer: Antibody buffer, sodium azide, glycerol, and BSA. Stable for 12 months from date of receipt.
ULK1 is a serine/threonine kinase that promotes autophagy signaling (1). It forms a complex with mammalian Atg13 (mAtg13) and FIP200. In this complex, mAtg13 mediates the interaction between FIP200 and ULK1 and is required for the phosphorylation of FIP200 by ULK1 in response to nutrient starvation. mTORC1 associates with the ULK1-mAtg13-FIP200 complex through an interaction between raptor and ULK1, phosphorylating ULK1 and mAtg13 to repress the kinase activity of ULK1, thereby suppressing the initiation of autophagy (2). Moreover, ULK1 is involved in the regulation of neurotransmitter trafficking and axonal growth (3).
