Soluble forms of TMEFF2’s extracellular domain have been reported to weakly stimulate erbB-4/HER4 tyrosine phosphorylation in gastric cancer cells, and they promote the survival of mesencephalic dopaminergic neurons. Elevated TMEFF2 expression is associated with higher prostate cancer grade and hormone independence (2).
