BackgroundCD52 is a phosphatidylinositol-linked, leukocyte differentiation antigen abundantly expressed on the surface of activated lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, monocyte-derived dendritic cells and endothelial cells (1). It is specifically expressed on the cell membrane via a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor (2).
