|Transferrin receptor protein 1 (TfR1, CD71) is a plasma membrane transport glycoprotein composed of disulfide-linked polypeptide chains. It belongs to the peptidase m28 family. CD71 is a cell surface membrane protein, with the highest level of expression being in lymphocytes, placenta and neoplastic cells. CD71 is primarily involved in iron homeostasis by regulating cellular iron uptake in interaction with the HFE protein. It is also crucial in iron transportation from mother to fetus (1).|

Flow Cytometry-Anti-Transferrin Receptor antibody [EPR4012](TA307375); Overlay histogram showing Jurkat cells stained with TA307375 (red line). The cells were fixed with 80% methanol (5 min) and then permeabilized with 0.1% PBS-Tween for 20 min. The cells were then incubated in 1x PBS / 10% normal goat serum / 0.3M glycine to block non-specific protein-protein interactions followed by the antibody for 30 min at 22°C. The secondary antibody used was DyLight 488 goat anti-rabbit IgG (H+L) at 1/500 dilution for 30 min at 22°C. Isotype control antibody (black line) was rabbit IgG (monoclonal) (1ug/1x10^6 cells) used under the same conditions. Acquisition of >5,000 events was performed. This antibody gave a positive signal in Jurkat cells fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde (10 min)/permeabilized with 0.1% PBS-Tween for 20 min used under the same conditions.
