|HES1 belongs to the basic helix-loop-helix family of transcription factors. It is a transcriptional repressor of genes that require a bHLH protein for their transcription. HES1 has a particular type of basic domain that contains a helix interrupting protein that binds to the N-box rather than the canonical E-box (1).|

Flow Cytometry - Anti-Hes1 antibody [EPR4226]; Overlay histogram showing SH-SY5Y cells stained with TA307212 (red line). The cells were fixed with 80% methanol (5 min) and then permeabilized with 0.1% PBS-Tween for 20 min. The cells were then incubated in 1x PBS / 10% normal goat serum / 0.3M glycine to block non-specific protein-protein interactions. The cells were then incubated with the antibody for 30 min at 22°C. The secondary antibody used was DyLight 488 goat anti-rabbit IgG (H+L) at 1/500 dilution for 30 min at 22°C. Isotype control antibody (black line) was rabbit IgG (monoclonal) (1ug/1x10^6 cells) used under the same conditions. Acquisition of >5,000 events was performed.
