GOPC (Golgi-associated PDZ and coiled-coil motif-containing protein), also known as PIST, is a PDZ domain-containing Golgi protein that plays a role in intracellular protein trafficking and degradation (1, 2). GOPC may regulate CFTR chloride currents and acid-induced ACCN3 currents by modulating cell surface expression of both channels (1). It may also regulate intracellular trafficking of the ADR1B receptor and play a role in autophagy (1). GOPC interacts with golgin-60, a Golgi-localized protein, by colocalizing to Golgi membranes (3). Overexpression of GOPC results in CFTR intracellular retention and degradation in lysosomes (1).
