|This gene encodes a protein belonging to the spermidine/spermin synthase family. Pseudogenes of this gene are located on chromosomes 1, 5, 6 and X. Mutations in this gene are associated with X-linked Snyder-Robinson mental retardation syndrome. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. HEK293T cells were transfected with the pCMV6-ENTRY control (Left lane) or pCMV6-ENTRY SMS (RC200619, Right lane) cDNA for 48 hrs and lysed. Equivalent amounts of cell lysates (5 ug per lane) were separated by SDS-PAGE and immunoblotted with anti-SMS.
