Reference Data

Target NameMus musculus platelet derived growth factor receptor, beta polypeptide (Pdgfrb), transcript variant 2
Alternative NameAI528809; CD140b; Pdgfr; PDGFR-1
Database LinkNP_032835
Entrez Gene 18596 Mouse
FunctionHuman platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) receptor is a receptor tyrosine kinase whose activity induces various signalling cascades leading to cell growth and proliferation. Two major isoforms exist, PDGF receptor-a and PDGF receptor-beta. PDGF receptor-beta can only bind two specific PDGF isoforms, PDGF-beta and PDGF-delta (1,2). Upon ligand binding, the receptor undergoes autophosphorylation, allowing binding and activation of cytoplasmic SH2 domain-containing signal transduction molecules such as PI kinase, Grb2, and Src, among others (3). It has been shown that SHP-2 and PLC-gamma bind to PDGF receptor-beta that is phosphorylated at Tyrosine 1009 (4). Both Tyrosine 751 and 740 is required for PDGFR-beta mediated PI3 kinase activation. In particular, Tyrosine 751 is the docking site for P13 kinase (5).
