Function	IGFBP2, Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 2, is one member of the IGFBP family of proteins (1). It inhibits IGF-mediated growth and developmental rates. IGF-binding proteins prolong the half-life of the IGF’s, and they have been shown to either inhibit or stimulate the growth promoting effects of the IGFs on cell culture (2). Increased serum IGFBP2 levels are found in colon cancer, ovary cancer, lymphoid tumors, and non-islet cell tumor hypoglycemia. Thus, IGFBP2 is a highly sensitive marker of malignant progression in different tumors (3).
