Function	TFIIF functions in both transcription initiation and elongation and is one of three general factors, TFIIB, TFIIE, and TFIIF, that directly binds RNA polymerase II (Pol II). TFIIF facilitates Pol II incorporation into a PIC intermediate-containing promoter DNA, TBP, and TFIIB and is required for subsequent recruitment of TFIIE and TFIIH. TFIIF also has functions in open complex formation, transcription start site selection, promoter escape, stabilization of an RNA–DNA hybrid within Pol II, and, along with TFIIS, stimulates elongation by purified Pol II (1).
