Function	G protein alpha 13 belongs to the family of heterotrimeric guanine nucleotide-binding proteins that provide a link between membrane receptors and a set of signaling molecules inside the cell. The alpha-subunit of heterotrimeric G13 proteins regulates multiple cell-type dependent intracellular and cellular events (1). G protein alpha 13 activates Rho through direct stimulation of the guanine nucleotide exchange factor p115RhoGEF. Like all G-proteins, Rho cycles between the inactive GDP bound and active GTP bound form (2).
