Collapsin response mediator proteins (CRMPs) are important brain-specific proteins with distinct functions during development and under disease conditions. In developing neurons, CRMPs mediator growth cone collapse in response to repelling guidance cues, such as semaphorin 3A or lysophosphatidic acid (1). Thus, CRMP-3 is involved in remodeling of the cytoskeleton. It also plays a role in axon guidance, neuronal growth cone collapse and cell migration (2).
