OriGene Technologies was founded in 1997 as a research tool company focused upon the creation of the largest commercial collection of full-length human cDNAs in a standard expression vector.  The availability of the complete sequence of the human genome and the subsequent development of genome-based tools has enabled the identification of relevant drug targets through system biology approachs.  OriGene's vision has been to prepare for the approach of these systematic biology methods by creating comprehensive cDNA clone collections and related  technologies and applications for gene function analysis.  These collections, technologies and applications will enable scientists to look at full, biologically relevant networks to best understand disease mechanisms.

OriGene Technologies uses high-throughput gene cloning and gene expression profiling to develop commercially available products for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic research and discovery applications. OriGene's flagship product is the cDNA clone collection, a searchable gene bank of over 30,000 human full-length cDNA clones from our pre-made TrueClone Collection and our TrueClone Custom Cloning program.  These cDNAs are suitable for transfection and in vivo or direct in vitro expression. The TrueClone Collection cDNA clones are obtained directly from plasmid cDNA libraries avoiding the sequence errors introduced by other cloning methods.
