OriGene Academic Partnership Program
As a responsible corporate citizen, OriGene is committed to the betterment of our society and giving-back to academic institutions. The Academic Partnership Program makes our genomics technologies and products more accessible and affordable for undergraduate and graduate training. Through such a partnership program, students gain hands-on experience, develop skillfulness in using common lab equipment and learn underlying theory behind current protocols.
One example is OriGene's sponsorship to the Biotechnology Certificate Program at Ball State University’s Department of Biology, which prepares undergraduate and graduate students with in-demand research and laboratory skills for graduate school or for careers as a research associate. OriGene proudly sponsors this program with its TrueClone® cDNA plasmids and expression vectors. Dr. Sue McDowell, Associate Professor at Department of Biology, made the following comment, "Our students benefited tremendously from this experience in developing their own cloning strategy, protocols, daily schedules, and budgets. We truly appreciate the generous support from OriGene in our Biotechnology Certificate Program."
Dr. Partha P Banerjee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular & Cellular Biology at Georgetown University. He and his team of graduate students are investigating the extra-telomeric role of telomerase in cancer. Through OriGene's academic partnership program, his research team has access to a broad selection of high quality reagents at a significantly reduced price, including TrueORF cDNA clones, HuSH-29 shRNA constructs, etc. Dr. Banerjee said, "This unique program allows our graduate students to focus their valuable time and research budget on research projects by using high quality off-the-shelf reagents from OriGene. We truly value this relationship."
OriGene Academic Partnership Programs offers the following benefits:
- Access to all OriGene products and protocols for gene expression, regulation, and functional studies
- Access to technology and teaching information in the form of PowerPoint slides, videos, etc
- Access to OriGene Technical Support scientists for technical advice
- Academic discounts for all products and materials used in classroom training
