OTI Disclaimer: The molecular sequence of this clone aligns with the gene accession number as a point of reference only. However, individual transcript sequences of the same gene can differ through naturally occurring variations (e.g. polymorphisms), each with its own valid existence. This clone is substantially in agreement with the reference, but a complete review of all prevailing variants is recommended prior to use. More info
Product Components: The ORF clone is ion-exchange column purified, transfection-ready dried plasmid DNA, and shipped with 2 vector sequencing primers.

Summary: This gene encodes a multi-pass transmembrane protein that forms a homotetramer or heterotetramer in neuronal cells. The encoded protein is a ligand-gated ion channel that responds to the neurotransmitter L-glutamate to promote synaptic transmission. Deficiency of this gene leads to behavioral phenotypes. The transcript is subject to RNA editing at codon 769 (AGA->GGA; R->G). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2013].
